Our History

After
graduating from Michigan State University in 1975, Dean Wall
began working for his fathers excavating business. In 1977
Dean went on his own by founding Dean’s Landscaping and
Excavating in Sand Lake Michigan. The company then consisted
of Dean, Jeff Gillespie, Chuck Bergman (both are still with
the company today), a used dump truck, dozer and backhoe.
In the early years while trying to develop a reputable
company it was realized that a professional attitude coupled
with a strong work ethic would be the foundation for which
the young company would be built upon.
From 3 pieces of equipment to now over 35 Dean’s has
continued to maintain a quality fleet to work from. Recently
Dean’s has been able to move its operations to a new
facility to better enable maintenance of equipment and
provide generations to come with room for expansion. We are
proud to be able to still live and operate in the Sand Lake
community were our company was founded.
Through the years as the company has grown so has its
employee base and family involvement. Dean’s has been able
to maintain family ownership with Dean his wife Kristie and
there four children Cory, Zach, Molly and Nate all of whom
work in the business.
While we are proud of the past accomplishments our company
and its employees have been able to achieve, we continue to
look toward the future to maintain a stable work environment
for our employees, provide quality work for our customers
and have a positive impact in our community.
